Magazine Ad - SPEC

The Client

This is a spec piece of work created for COVERGIRL to introduce their new TrueYou Match Lipstick.

The Challenge

The COVERGIRL TrueYou Match lipstick is a brand-new type of lipstick that matches the wearer’s natural lip color and then enhances it with reflective pigments. The lipstick also hydrates the lips to keep them healthy and soft. COVERGIRL required a single-page, full-colour glossy magazine ad to run in fashion magazines, to drive their consumers to purchase at their local drugstores.

The Solution

COVERGIRL’s target audience for this magazine ad is make-up lovers ages 24–40 who regularly purchase health and beauty items at their local drugstores. They like looking their best and enjoy shopping for items that help them do this. They are confident and like using makeup to enhance their natural beauty. This magazine ad needed to use a fun, stylish, and promotional tone to communicate that TrueYou Match lipstick helps users make the most of their natural beauty. It enhances their look without looking fake or over-the-top.
